Jason Bordelon

I am 34 years old; married to a wonderful woman, Miranda, and have one son, Spencer. We are currently awaiting the birth of our daughter. When I am not working as a self employed tile setter or spending time with my family, you can find me in my boat fishing either for pleasure or a tournament.

My favorite fishing technique is flipping. When I am just relaxing I like to take a good buddy and head out to Saline Lake and hit all of our honey holes. When I flip I use 20 lb Grand Slam Mono line with a half ounce tungsten weight, a 4/0 Mustad hook, and a sweet beaver. Flipping tight to the cypress trees usually will give me the edge to catch a couple of nice size bass.

I started fishing tournaments when I was 16 years old and I have never lost the desire to catch big bass. When I began my tournament fishing I was using a 16’ aluminum boat with a 40hp Yamaha with a livewell so small my catch would not even fit. I feel like I have really come a long way and although I still really enjoy the local small tournaments my heart is with the larger tournament scenes.

In the last few years I have stepped up and began competing on a higher level. I hope to continue to be able to catch those big fish and compete with the pros that I have always admired.

Seminar Involvement:
  • Line seminars at various outdoor shows and local boat dealerships.

Targeted Fish:
  • bass -  large mouth and spotted.

Top 3 HI-SEAS line and reasons why:
  • Grand Slam Mono -  because of its high knot strength, abrasion resistance, and smooth casting.
  • Quattro Plus -  because of its low memory and quad color design helps it to disappear in the water.
  • Quattro Flouro Carbon -  because of its low vis 4-color camo coloring and its sinking rate is faster than mono.

Favorite Fishing Technique:
  • Shallow water power fishing.

Favorite Area to Fish:
  • Red River

Most Memorable Fishing Experience:
  • Winning 5th place in Georgia at the Weekend Series National Championship with my family present in November of 2005.

What tip would you give a non professional angler?
  • Fishing is a learning experience – enjoy the journey! Everytime you’re on the water, you’ll learn something.

When not fishing I like to…

1. Eat BBQ
2. Go hunting with my son, Spencer
3. Work on my boat/tackle
4. Talk about fishing with my all my buddies!
