Porter Trimble

As a native of Central Louisiana, Porter began fishing the banks of the lakes and bayous when he was just a child. Since those childhood days and even while serving his country in the U.S. Navy Submarine Force, Porter spent countless hours sharpening his fishing skills and acquiring new knowledge and techniques.

Now, with his ever-increasing passion for the outdoors, he is a fishing guide, travels the South promoting his sponsors’ products, speaks at seminars, hosts tournaments and is the host of Southern Woods and Waters television show. SW&W is a regional show covering 29 parishes in Louisiana, 4 counties in Texas and 3 counties in Mississippi. In 2006 Porter was voted “BEST TV PERSONALITY” for Central Louisiana.

For the last 15 years Porter has written fishing reports for Louisiana Sportsman and Louisiana’s Recreation Life magazines, has been featured in numerous hunting and fishing articles in both publications, and has been interviewed and quoted in various local news papers across the region from time to time. His wife of 22 years, Denise, and their son, Michael, supports Porter in his outdoor ambitions.

• Various Seminars and speaking engagements over the course of the last 15 years. • 1st Place - 2009 Military Team Bass Tournament, 39th Place – 2009 BASS Central Open on Atchafalaya Basin, Qualified for the Boggy Bayou Team Trail 2009 Championship (5th place finish), Voted Central Louisiana 2006 “Best Television Personality”,

• Primarily Bass but occasionally fish for Crappie, Bream, Speckled Trout, and Redfish

• Shallow water power fishing.

• The first time I learned to use a drop shot was during the filming of a show back in 2002. Someone showed me how to rig it up and I went out and tried it. I caught 20 bass that afternoon with my smallest being 3 ½ pounds up to 7 ½ pounds and all of them on camera. The excitement of learning a new technique and having huge success at it made it all the better. After we finished filming, my camera man looked at me with a big smile and said “you know you just filmed the best show of your career” and so far he was right!
