HI-SEAS PRO STAFF MAKE SOME NOISE AT THE 2010 BASSMASTER CLASSIC
Jeff Kriet – 2nd Place – 46lbs 6oz
 |
COATESVILLE, PA (March 4, 2010) – At the recent 2010 Bassmaster Classic in February on Lay Lake in
Alabama, HI-SEAS was well represented with 4 anglers finishing 26th and better. We would like to
congratulate our following team members on their tremendous performances during the recent Classic:
Jeff Kriet, 2nd Place – Jeff Freeman, 9th Place – Cliff Pace, 14th Place and Terry Scroggins, 26th Place .
Jeff Kriet’s 2nd place Finish provided for one of the most
exciting and followed final days of any Bassmaster Classic.
Using HI-SEAS 100% Fluorocarbon Line and the new HISEAS
Quattro 100% Fluorocarbon Lines, Jeff fished an
impressive tournament which paved the way to his 2nd place
finish.
“At Lay Lake a big part of my deal was being able to make
really long throws on pressured fish. When I hooked a fish,
the thought of breaking off was never a thought that crossed
my mind” Kriet said. “. When I hooked up, I knew that fish
was mine. Both 15lb HI-SEAS 100% Fluorocarbon Line and
the new Quattro 100% Fluorocarbon Line paved my way to a 2nd place finish on lay lake.”
Jeff Freeman – 9th Place – 32lbs 11oz
 |
Jeff Freeman of Max Meadows, VA is one of the newest
members of the HI-SEAS team. Jeff Qualified for his 2nd
Bassmaster Classic by way of the BASS Federation. Jeff
fished a great tournament, leading him to a 9th place finish, the
highest of all Federation qualifiers.
Using HI-SEAS 100% Fluorocarbon, Freeman caught a beast
on the final day. Freeman said “The biggest fish I caught was
the last day in Beeswax, on my “magical tree”. I felt a big bite,
and had this 5lb 2oz bass wrap it self up in this tree. It was an
extremely tough fight. I played tug of war with this fish and the
tree for at least 10 minutes before getting both the fish AND
the tree to the boat.” Freeman continued, “The best part of this catch was that it was caught on 8lb HISEAS
100% Fluorocarbon Line. My area on Lay Lake had a lot of rock and trees so I fished the rough
stuff the entire Classic. I used the HI-SEAS 100% Fluorocarbon line the entire classic, and had the
confidence that any fish I caught in this rough area was mine.”
Cliff Pace – 14th Place – 27lbs 15oz.
 |
Cliff Pace, fishing his 3rd Bassmaster classic and coming off
his 8th place finish in the 2009 BASS Angler of the Year
standings, had yet another impressive tournament. Finishing
in 14th place in 2010, cliff has never missed a cut for the
Bassmaster Classic. Cliff also featured his new HI-SEAS boat
wrap for the first time during this event. Cliff has been the
anchor of the HI-SEAS Elite pro-staff and has again impressed
all with his abilities during this tough event.
“At the 2010 Bassmaster Classic, fishing conditions were
incredibly tough. During these types of conditions, I need a
line that I could have complete confidence in, and will not fail
me on the water. That is why HI-SEAS was extremely crucial
to my success on Lay Lake.” Pace also used the HI-SEAS
100% Fluorocarbon and Quattro 100% Fluorocarbon to help propel him to his 14th place finish. Pace
continued, “I used both the 100% Fluorocarbon Line and the Quattro 100% Fluorocarbon line through out
the entire event. These 2 lines were not only a huge part of my success on Lay Lake, but were one of the
main reasons I made it to the Bassmaster Classic and finished 8th in the 2009 Angler of the Year
standings.”
Terry Scroggins – 26th Place – 14lb 13oz.
 |
Terry Scroggins, the newest member of the HI-SEAS Elite Pro-
Staff, was finishing his 7th Bassmaster Classic, and also
coming off a great 3rd place showing in the first 2010 Southern
Open on Okeechobee. Scroggins showed everyone why he is
“The Big Show”, and fished a tremendous tournament heading
into the 2010 season full steam ahead. Scroggins had a
different approach than the other three team members, using
HI-SEAS Grand Slam Braid for flipping, and 8lb HI-SEAS
Quattro 100% Fluorocarbon on his shakey head set-up.
Scroggins said, “On Lay Lake, I used the 65lb Grand Slam
Braid while flipping heavy grass and cover and used the 8lb
HI-SEAS Quattro 100% Fluorocarbon Line on my shakey head
set up with a Yum Hoodini worm. The braid was limper than
other braids, with superior strength; this helped me pitch to my
targets a lot easier and allowed my baits to be more free. Due to the increased softness and extreme
toughness of the Quattro 100% Fluorocarbon line, I was able to make super long casts in deep water and
have the confidence of a solid hook up.”
