HI-SEAS PROSTAFF, JEFF CONNELLA, CONTRIBUTES TO THE EFFORTS OF NATIONAL HUNTING & FISHING DAY

COATESVILLE, PA (October 5, 2009) –HI-SEAS Pro Staff member and Elite Bassmaster Pro, Jeff Connella, helped celebrate the spirit of National Hunting & Fishing Day on September 26th by inspiring the joy of fishing and the importance of conservation. National Hunting & Fishing Day was established in 1972 with the goal to educate, experience and appreciate the great outdoors. President Barack Obama has recognized the conservation spirit of hunters and anglers while officially proclaiming Saturday, Sept. 26, as National Hunting and Fishing Day in America. With the help of volunteers and sponsors, the day is dedicated with free fishing and hunting activities such as shooting ranges, fishing ponds and food that the entire family can enjoy.

Jeff Connella was proud to participate in one of Louisiana’s national events, “I have participated in the National Hunting and Fishing Day three of the last four years in Woodworth, LA. In that time, I have seen phenomenal growth in the number of kids that attend. The first year that I helped at the event, participation was about 300 kids. This year the total exceeded 2100 kids. The day started out at the fish hatchery with 2 hatchery ponds, stocked with fish. One pond was stocked with catfish, and the other with bass and bream. Lots of families fished, with some kids catching the first fish of their lives. Using a jig, my 2 year old son Bo caught his first bass, all by himself, with his (non sponsored) Sponge Bob rod and reel. The fishing lasted about 2 hours and then moved to the LA Department of Wildlife Education Center. Activities to observe included alligator skinning, S.W.A.T. demonstration, arrowhead construction and dog retriever demonstrations. The kids could participate in shooting archery, shotguns, muzzleloaders and .22 caliber rifles. Fishing and casting demonstrations were also available. A trailer full of prizes, ranging from guns to tents, including several lifetime hunting and fishing licenses were given away. All of these activities, prizes and lunch were provided at no charge. Yes that is right, FREE! This was only made possible thanks to the donations of money, food and prizes by businesses and the donation of time by LOTS of volunteers. You better believe if the good Lord is willing, September 26th 2010 I'll be back to do it all over again”.
